EDITORIAL

Abragames participated in gamescom latam with a super booth, where around 18 companies were exhibited. It was such a success that the booth was one of the most sought-after at the event. In addition, Abragames was responsible for curating more than 40 hours of B2B content for the event and for the Strategic Alignment, held on June 26 to discuss public policies. Among the lectures at gamescom latam were the celebration of Abragames’ 20th anniversary and the Brazil Games Project, a partnership between the Association and ApexBrasil (Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency) that aims to promote Brazilian studios abroad. The success of the Sector Project was shared with the gamescom latam audience and with professionals in the sector. Now in July, the Abragames team is already busy preparing for gamescom Germany, which will take place from August 21 to 25.

Abragames was responsible for curating more than 40 hours of content in the B2B area of the event.

São Paulo Expo was the stage for the largest gaming event in Latin America. The event was attended by over 100,000 attendees and over 1,000 gaming companies!

Gamescom Latam CEO Gustavo Steinberg said the event has already doubled in size compared to its previous edition. He highlighted: “The industry welcomed the announcement of Gamescom Latam, but there is still a need for education among the general public here. We need to show them what it’s like to be part of Gamescom in their own region. The most dedicated gamers and fans know what Gamescom is, but not everyone in Brazil is aware, so there is a lot of investment to be made in marketing.”

We had important participants, such as Senator Leila do Vôlei, Marília Marton, Secretary of Culture and Creative Economy of the State of São Paulo, and Joelma Gonzaga, Secretary of Audiovisual at Minc.
During the lecture “Women in Games”, the importance of female presence within the gaming industry and the impact of leaders in their areas of activity were discussed. Women represent the majority within our industry, helping to break the old stigma that this would be a predominantly male area. In other words, a lecture on this topic is extremely important for our field, especially with women who are in leadership positions and have strong influence!
